LLB (Hons) / M Law (Exempting)

Where are you from?

Sheffield

Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?

Because of the integrated legal practice course, the state of the art facilities and the friendly atmosphere.

What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?

I love Newcastle city centre! I really enjoy singing and acting. I also do a lot of charity fundraising including gigs and walks.

Did you find Northumbria University welcoming? Was it easy to fit in?

Yes, there is such a huge background of people and there is always someone to turn to and something to do.

What have you enjoyed most about coming to Northumbria University?

The facilities and the feeling of belonging from the Law School.

Who has helped you most since you came to Northumbria?

The other people on my law course - we are like a family!

Who has inspired you most at Northumbria University?

Some of the lecturers are really inspiring especially when you can see they have a genuine interest in the subject and you know you can ask them anything.

What is your favourite place on campus?

The Students' Union and sometimes the Law Library when I want a bit of quiet to get down and study!

Have you joined any sports teams, clubs or been involved in any volunteer projects? Tells us about the highlights?

I joined the Musical Theatre Society in my first year and loved having somewhere to let my hair down.

What is the best thing about your course?

The sense of family between the students even though there is so many of us.

What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt to date?

Start revising early!

What do you want to do in the future? What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?

I want to be a solicitor ultimately. University has taught me that there are many sectors of the law that I have not yet explored - it's not all cut and dry.

Have you worked on any projects with businesses or been on a placement? What were your most memorable experiences?

I have organised my own work experience with a top law firm and loved every second. It introduced me to a sector of law that I had never considered going into!

Have you taken up any opportunities to travel with your current course/undertake field trips? If so, please tell us about them.

In my first year a group of us went to Newcastle Crown Court to watch some trials and it was interesting but very very scary at some points!

If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?

Don't worry! Northumbria is a place for anyone and everyone.

How do you feel you have changed as a person since being at Northumbria University, Newcastle (e.g. confidence)?

I have definitely become more confident in my studies and this has had a knock on effect with my social life. I find myself confident enough to help others and this means that people return the favour when I need help!

If you had 3 words to sum up your time with us what would they be?

Inspiring, fun, hard!

Would you recommend Northumbria University to a friend?

Definitely!
