Where are you from?

Lake District, Cumbria

Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?

I like Newcastle as a city and more importantly I liked the course here as not many other universities offer the four year exempting course.

What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?

I like the city a lot, it's smaller than you think and easy to get around and is really good for shopping. The nightlife is great up here as there are bars as well as clubs if you fancy a quieter night out.

Did you find Northumbria University welcoming? Was it easy to fit in?

I had no problems fitting in at all, in the fist few weeks everyone feels the same so you make friends really easily on your course and you always have your flatmates around.

What have you enjoyed most about coming to Northumbria University?

I have enjoyed meeting so many new people and making friends I would never have had the opportunity to meet had I not come to Northumbria. I have also really enjoyed my first year and found the course and new ways of teaching really interesting.

Who has helped you most since you came to Northumbria?

My Flatmates have been the biggest help since coming to Northumbria, they are always there for me and it's really good to have someone who is sharing the same experience as you.

Who has inspired you most at Northumbria University?

My lecturers have been a big inspiration as I have learnt about what they have gone on to do after their Law degrees, it has shown me how far it is possible to go and the variety of options available.

What is your favourite place on campus?

I like to go to the first floor in the Law School if I need to do work, for socialising Habita is the best place on campus!

What is the best thing about your course?

The criminal law module has been very interesting, also meeting some very good friends from my seminar group and lectures.

What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt to date?

That no matter how hard something is you will always enjoy it if you are interested and passionate about it.

What do you want to do in the future? What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?

I want to be a solicitor, obviously the law I've learnt is important but the application and basic legal and research skills are going to be very useful in the future.

If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?

If the course is right for you I would definitely advise you to choose Northumbria, everything has been amazing in my first year and I am so glad I chose Northumbria.

How do you feel you have changed as a person since being at Northumbria University, Newcastle (e.g. confidence)?

I have become more confident and also more determined to have a career in Law.
