Law With International Business Llb Hons Student Vickiepatel 255Where are you from?

Originally from California, but have settled down in the lovely North East.

Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?

It provides for modern studies and has a support network of tutors which support, encourage and help. The environment is friendly and the University's location is perfect.

What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?

I love Newcastle. It's the perfect place. It's not too small and not too big and you can find your way around easily. I love spending time in Jesmond Park and Whitley Bay for outdoor activities.

What has surprised you most about living in Newcastle and this region? What has impressed you most?

Coming from California, I never thought any other place would be as great. But over the few years here, I've realised how Newcastle becomes home and suprisingly I miss it when I am away. The people are so friendly in the region and so easy to approach and talk to.

Did you find Northumbria University welcoming? Was it easy to fit in?

From the first day I felt very comfortable as it's a warm atmosphere and a very supportive environment to help you find your way around.

What have you enjoyed most about coming to Northumbria University?

I love the high level of interaction between tutors and students. The level of help and guidance offered throughout your study is amazing.

Who has helped you most since you came to Northumbria?

I received the most help from my Tutors. Anytime I had quesitons, they were there. Many offer an open door policy as they are on campus and for times they are off campus e-mail communication is quick and very efficient.

Who has inspired you most at Northumbria University?

My drive and inspiration built throughout the year as we had many businesses vist our campus and talk about their hiring process and what they are looking for. Many provided guidance on how to achieve certain career goals and spoke of their own personal experiences. The Career Centre does an amazing job in providing us with opportunities to build professional contacts.

What is your favourite place on campus?

As a Law Student, my favourite place is the Law Library. It's a good place to get focused, easy to access between modules as it's within the same building, and provides a good level of legal resources.

What is the best thing about your course?

It's a small group of students, but we engage with eachother and bounce ideas off one and another.

What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt to date?

If you have a passion for something, then you have to create the drive to make sure you do it.

If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?

It's the ideal University. They offer various activities to engage with, the support is unbelievable, and the course materials taught are in a very engaging way with modern day events interlinked.

How do you feel you have changed as a person since being at Northumbria University, Newcastle (e.g. confidence)?

I feel more confident and feel I am able to accomplish my career goals.

If you had 3 words to sum up your time with us what would they be?

Engaging, Enjoyable and Exciting.

Would you recommend Northumbria University to a friend?
