Where are you from?

Bristol

Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?

Wanted to move far away from home to challenge myself. It was my favourite city I visited and the course covered all the things I wanted to learn.

What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?

There is always lots to do. I love going to the Quayside and the Baltic. I have explored bits of Northumberland to take photos for photography projects- it is is beautiful!

What has surprised you most about living in Newcastle and this region? What has impressed you most?

How easy I found it to fit in and get to know the city. Everyones really friendly and there is always something going on.

Did you find Northumbria University welcoming? Was it easy to fit in?

My course leaders threw us into the deep end on our first day and set us a task to explore the city and find different landmarks with a group of our new course mates. It got us talking and helped us learn about the city.

What have you enjoyed most about coming to Northumbria University?

Finding my independence and meeting life long friends.

What is your favourite place on campus?

Design school. Where I spend a lot of time. A modern space with great facilities.

Have you joined any sports teams, clubs or been involved in any volunteer projects? Tells us about the highlights?

Snow Sports during Second Year.

What is the best thing about your course?

Final Year has been great as it has allowed me to focus my skills and decided what I want to do when I leave.

What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt to date?

To throw yourself into everything and meet as many people as possible.

What do you want to do in the future? What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?

I want to work within a creative environment helping to build a strong brand identity that is visually exciting and results in company success.

Have you taken up any opportunities to travel with your current course/undertake field trips? If so, please tell us about them.

I went to New York in First Year. Myself and two friends blagged tickets for NYFW and received a guided tour around the new flagship Ralph Lauren store.

If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?

To throw yourself into everything, join societies, mingle on your course.

How do you feel you have changed as a person since being at Northumbria University, Newcastle (e.g. confidence)?

My confidence has grown significantly. I came straight from a small sixth form and had only just turned 18 so I felt like a very small fish in a very big pond. I have gained valuable skills ready for industry.

If you had 3 words to sum up your time with us what would they be?

Challenging, Fun and Enlightening
