Where are you from?

Durham

Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?

Northumbria University offered the exact course that I was looking for in a really down to earth environment.

What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?

Newcastle simply is a great place to live and learn. There's so much to do you'll never be bored! A real student city with some of the best nightlife around.

What has surprised you most about living in Newcastle and this region? What has impressed you most?

It's a great city where everyone feels welcome!

Did you find Northumbria University welcoming?  Was it easy to fit in?

Northumbria University is just incredible, from day one you feel so welcome. Everyone is just relaxed and willing to get anyone and everyone involved. No-one would ever find themselves feeling like the outsider, theres always someone willing to pull you in!

What have you enjoyed most about coming to Northumbria University?

Everything! The whole university experience has been incredible, it's just such a down to earth place it makes the stress of university work a lot more bearable.

Who has helped you most since you came to Northumbria?

A number of lecturers have been there all the way through my four years at this institution. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, always willing to lend a hand or give a kind word of encouragement.

Who has inspired you most at Northumbria University?

One lecturer in particular has been my greatest inspiration. They've always shown me I'm capable of so much more than I think I am and have encouraged me to go further than I ever thought I would.

What is your favourite place on campus?

Habita in the SU. Great food and such a chilled atmosphere. Whether you're wanting a bite to eat or even a cheeky drink between lectures, it's always a great place to go especially when you want to escape from the library!

What is the best thing about your course?

My course is great for those willing to push themselves that bit further and especially for preparing yourself for PhD level. It's taught me some really valuable skills that I wouldn't have learned on another course.

What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt to date?

Time-management! Do not underestimate this, come dissertation hand in week you'll wish you had given it more thought.

What do you want to do in the future? What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?

All being well I hope to become an American history lecturer, passing on something I love and sharing the skills I've learned at Northumbria with the students of the future.

If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?

Prepare yourself to have the time of your life!

How do you feel you have changed as a person since being at Northumbria University, Newcastle (e.g. confidence)?

I feel like I've changed a lot since being at Northumbria. In particular I've grown immeasurably in confidence and its all down to the encouragement of the fantastic staff here at the University.
