English Language Taster Day

We are excited to announce a new Y12 English Language Taster Day, which will take place at our City Campus, in July. The event is free and has limited spaces and therefore is first come first served.

 Please use the form at the bottom of this page to sign up to the event. (Please note that schedule and timings may be subject to change)

The schedule for the event can be found below:

 English Language Day (Wednesday 1st July) PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS EVENT IS NOW FULL.

This day provides an opportunity for Year 12 English language students to explore further key topics which are focused on in A Level work and which might be the focus of investigative project work. There is a session on varieties of English around the world, one on child language development. Both of these sessions present key ideas from previous studies and consider ways of finding out more. At the end of the day, a panel of experts will respond to questions from students.

  9.45 - 9.50         Welcome

 9.50  -  11.50     Introduction to World Englishes (including mid-session break) 

 11.50 - 12.30     Lunch break (lunch not provided; campus shops available; space for eating packed lunches available if that is preferred)

 12.30 -  14.30    Introduction to Child Language Development (including mid-session break)

 14.30 -  15:00    Ask the Panel: student Q&As  

 15:00                 Finish

Lunch is not included in the day however, there are facilities for students to purchase food on campus, alternatively you may bring your own with you.
