Newcastle Business School Research

Newcastle Business School prides itself on providing impactful research for regional and global progress, offering solutions to current and future challenges.  This reflects our mission to act as a force for good in the region and beyond.

Our ambition is to create new knowledge through world-leading research that powers an inclusive economy and drives social mobility. We offer a distinctive, research-informed voice on issues of sustainability, ethics and inclusivity in public, private and charitable organizations to enhance society. We work in partnership with numerous local and global organisations to fulfil our mission. Our high-quality, applied, and actionable research informs both the full range of our academic programmes and the world of practice.

Our mission and ambition reflect the wider Northumbria University strategy as a research-intensive university.

In the last Research Excellence Framework evaluation (REF 2021), our research performance demonstrated a large increase in research power, seeing us rise from 60th to 9th of 108 business schools in the UK.

Our vibrant research environment is organised around 5 research groups, 1 cross-faculty research group, and 1 centre, involving academics and PGR students. The groups reflect our strengths, developing expertise and our impact in areas of research which relate to societal challenges and address key questions:
