Themes to choose from might include, worldbuilding, place and communities, identities and technologies. In this module you will develop a deeper understanding of the inter-connection of theory to practice and be able to develop your own personal take on this dynamic in relation to your art-making. You will also have the opportunity to experience collaborative and collective ways of working which will both inform, and expand upon, your own personal ways of working.

How will I learn on this module?

The studio and project spaces are the primary location for your learning. It is here that you will reflect on the teaching offered and produce artworks that evidence your understanding as well as your own curiosity. A seminar/workshop series will help structure your learning and provide a focus for you to develop your own initiatives into the inter-relation of theory to practice within contemporary art.. You will have the opportunity to engage in further collaborative and collective art-making, building on your initial experiences of this is semester 1. The seminar/workshops may also include advanced technical demonstrations and field-working.

You are supported by the provision of a studio space and access to the project spaces.

Technical facilities are available, including the wood, construction and casting workshops, the print studio (including screen-printing, etching, lithography), the mac lab and digital print (including industry standard digital imaging, moving image and audio software), analogue darkrooms (black and white and colour processing and print) and digital photographic studios. Your learning will be supported by subject specialist academics and by expert technicians.
