How will I learn the skills needed be a successful Entrepreneur?
The course helps you to develop as an entrepreneur as well as provides you with the knowledge and understanding about business.
The skills you need to become a successful entrepreneur will depend on the vision you have for your business, and that is where the course is very tailored to your needs. You will develop key skills, essential for any career path – for example:
Taking the lead - this course provides you with many opportunities to take the lead. you can take the lead in your business or enterprising activities, your own learning, and can take the lead in your coaching team to be one of the role models on the programmes.
Networking - we provide you the opportunities to network with a variety of entrepreneurs. For example, in the first year, part of your assessment is hearing and assessing an entrepreneurs story.
Understanding your own motivations - As you engage in many different activities on the programme can reflect on your own motivations. Therefore, not only do you develop knowledge and skills on this programme but you get to understand yourself a little bit more.
Problem solvers - many of the modules teaching you in way in which you can apply an entrepreneurship lens to many business problems, and give you the opportunities to do this in a practical way. For example, yourself and team members will be encouraged to apply your theory and skills to real-world problems in seminars.
Should you wish to push your knowledge and skills even further, the
course also prepares you for postgraduate study – for example, on our MSc in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management.
What support is available to grow my business after graduation?
The programme works closely with the Student and Graduate Enterprise service. This is a fantastic offer of support while you are at university and after you graduate. The service offers a variety of 1-2-1 support and mentoring as well as access to the newly built university 'Incubator'.
The programme is also supported by the Willan Trust, who provide the opportunity for students to pitch for funding each year. Successful students can receive anything up to £5000 a year to fund their projects. This provides you not only the finance to support your business but legitimacy and credibility.
