A strong focus of strengthening our research has been to stimulate and facilitate innovative partnerships with national and international organisations. Exemplars of this can be seen below.

BIM Academy

The Building Information Modelling (BIM) Academy is an innovative joint venture between Northumbria University and Ryder Architecture aiming to bring construction into the digital age and inspire and spark greater collaborations. The Academy has transitioned into one of the world’s leading research and strategic consultants in the global digital built environment.

International Centre for Connected Construction

The International Centre for Connected Construction (IC3) fosters world-leading research and innovation in collaboration with industry and the public sector, championing the use of digital technologies to drive productivity, improve safety and add value to the entire building and infrastructure lifecycle. Launched in 2018, IC3 is a centre of excellence for digital construction, based and led by Northumbria and Newcastle Universities and over 20 industrial partners. Having received funding from the North East Local Enterprise Partnership and UKRI Strength in Places Fund, IC3 is well positioned to advance and expand in the coming years.
