Northumbria University welcomes applicants from Sir Lanka with a range of qualifications across our pathway, undergraduate, postgraduate and research courses.

Please note that the following are general entry guidelines for students from Sir Lanka. Actual requirements may vary depending on your chosen course of study, and some courses may have specific or additional entry criteria; full details are available in our course directory. Decisions for entry will also be based on personal statements and previous study information, not just your final course grading.

Although some courses have specific requirements for entry, Northumbria will consider any qualification for entry to its courses.

For entry to: You will need: Grade Required:
IFP General Certificate of Education (Ordinary Level) 75% / A / Distinction
General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) May be considered if entry requirements for target course are not met. Applications will be evaluated on a case by case basis
1st Year Undergraduate General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) As per course A Level requirements
National Certificate 65% / B / Very Good Pass
Postgraduate Programmes Bachelor General Degree B+ / 3.3 / Second Upper
Bachelor Special Degree / Professional Degree B / 3.0 / Second Lower for courses requiring a 2:2

B+ / 3.3 / Second Upper for courses requiring a 2:1
Graduate Certificate Bachelor General Degree C+ / 2.3 / Pass
Bachelor Special Degree / Professional Degree C / 2.0 / Pass
