Dr Les Tickner

Lecturer

Les is an experienced lecturer, and trainer. He lectures in International Business Management and Organisational Change, Work and Diversity at Northumbria University and Personal & Organisational Development at Newcastle University Business School. A Civil Engineer with over thirty years experience as a Senior Environmental Operational Manager he has a wealth of practical experience and knowledge to share. Les gained his PhD in Local Authority Service Delivery Performance Improvement exploring the impact Leadership Styles, Organisational Structures, Employee Engagement and Motivation has on service quality improvement. He brings a practical perspective to Personal & Organisational Development and Change. Recent work includes Talent Management Strategy development, competency based recruitment and selection, and employability skills training.

Experienced in project management and the integration and co-ordination of a range of internal and external bodies including multi agency working and community engagement.  Experience of setting, controlling and interpreting complex data and complex budgets. Experience in the design and delivery of major capital and revenue projects. Experience in urban regeneration projects.

Outside of University Les is a trustee of several charities and community groups as well as being Executive Portfolio Holder for Finance, Governance and Resources at Carlisle City Council.
