International Staff Training Week 2021

Virtual International Training Week 2021

The Future of Employability and Global Careers

Monday 8 November 2021 – Wednesday 10 November 2021

Our very popular Staff Training Week will take place virtually this year. The theme will be “The Future of Employability and Global Careers”. During the past two years we have been through a few challenges but have also learnt a lot about our students, our work and the way things are changing. Our aim with this theme is to look at the future and how we can contribute to our students’ global careers and employability skill development. Are we equipped to deliver enhanced careers advice and how do internationalisation activities fit in this picture? We invite colleagues in charge of international activities, careers, and student support to join us to explore these issues and share best practice and lessons learnt from recent events.

The event will consist of a mixture of presentations, workshops and a virtual study abroad fair in an interactive format. You will have the opportunity to learn about Northumbria’s strategy and how we have embedded internationalisation into our employability and Equality and Diversity work. You will also be able to interact with our students interested in study abroad at your institution and answer their questions through an innovative fair platform.

Thematic Forum

As an addition to this year’s Virtual Training Week, we will host a Thematic Forum on Overcoming Challenges for Global Engagement through Virtual Exchange.  The Forum is delivered in conjunction with The College of New Jersey, USA and funded by the Association of International Education Administrators. The forum will include a keynote from Eva Haug, expert in virtual exchanges and workshops on virtual exchange for areas of study that traditionally struggle to engage in international activities and virtual exchange for professional support staff.

The Thematic Forum will run immediately after the activities of the ITW every evening from 4-7 PM GMT. It is designed for Senior International Officers only, so if you have strategic responsibilities at your institution and would like to participate, please fill in the application form below.
