Speed dating matches students with potential employers

20th October 2015

Newcastle Business School’s Accounting and Finance Department has hosted a speed-dating event between students and potential employers.

The lively evening on Thursday 1st October gave students an opportunity to engage with a range of our employers and alumni in small groups and individual discussions. Topics covered included important questions in relation to what different careers offer, what employers will look for in new recruits and what they could do to improve their CVs and selection prospects.

AFM Finance To EmbedThe event was attended by some 60 second and final year students from Accounting, Finance and Investment Management, Accounting and Finance and Business with Finance. It was made possible by the support of 22 external guests comprising members of the Department’s Advisory Panel together with former students.

Professor Jackie Harvey from Newcastle Business School said: “This was a fun and hugely insightful and informative event for our students. Companies represented included amongst a wide number of others Deloitte, KPMG, Ernst and Young, Lloyds Bank, Virgin Money and Procter and Gamble. Feed-back from both students and the employers was extremely positive and we hope to run a repeat event next year.”
