IEEE CCTA 2024 - 8th IEEE Conference on Control Technology and Applications. August 21-23, 2024. Northumbria University, Newcastle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom

The CCTA conference is one of the main conferences sponsored by the IEEE Control Systems Society. The CCTA 2024 Technical Program will include regular and invited sessions, as well as application-oriented tutorial and workshop sessions, and of course a number of keynote and plenary lectures on some of the cutting-edge control technology topics.

The IEEE CCTA 2024 will be organised and hosted by Northumbria University, Newcastle upon Tyne from 20-23 August 2024. Each day will start with a keynote plenary session, followed by parallel sessions on the following topics:

Keynote Speakers

Kristin Y. Pettersen is a Professor of Engineering Cybernetics at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and Adjunct Professor at the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment. She co founded the subsea robotics company Eelume AS, where she was CEO 2015-2016 and is now a board member. She was awarded an ERC Advanced Grant 2020 and received the IEEE CSS 2020 Hendrik W. Bode Lecture Prize. She is IEEE CSS Distinguished Lecturer, a Fellow of IEEE and AAIA, a member of the Norwegian Academy of Technological Sciences, and a member of the Academy of the Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters.

Her main research interests are in the development of methodologies for the analysis and control of autonomous robots, with an emphasis on marine robotics and snake robotics.

Professor Sawodny received his Dipl.-Ing. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Karlsruhe, Germany, in1991 and his Ph.D. degree from the University of Ulm, Germany, in 1996. In 2002, he became a Full Professor at the Technical University of Ilmenau, Germany. 

Since 2005, he has been the Director of the Institute for System Dynamics, University of Stuttgart, Stuttgart, Germany. His current research interests include methods of differential geometry, trajectory generation, and applications to mechatronic systems. He received important paper awards in major control application journals such as IEEE Transaction on Control System

Technology Outstanding Paper Award (2013). He is a senior member of IEEE and Co-EiC of IFAC Journal Mechatronics.

Alexandre Bayen is director of CITRIS and the Banatao Institute, associate provost for the Berkeley Space Center, and Liao-Cho Innovation Endowed Chair and professor of electrical engineering and computer sciences and of civil and environmental engineering at the UC Berkeley. He received the Engineering Degree in applied mathematics from the Ecole Polytechnique, France, in 1998, the M.S. and Ph.D. in aeronautics and astronautics from Stanford University in 1999 and 2004, respectively. He was a Visiting Researcher at NASA Ames Research Center from 2000 to 2003.

Between January 2004 and December 2004, he worked as the Research Director of the Autonomous Navigation Laboratory at the Laboratoire de Recherches Balistiques et Aerodynamiques, (Ministere de la Defense, Vernon, France), where he holds the rank of Major.
