Reports and Data

Reports and data published by Northumbria University in relation to equality, diversity and inclusion.

Northumbria University is committed to providing an environment in which diversity is valued and respected, where there is equal access to opportunities and in which all prospective and existing staff and students are treated fairly, with equity and dignity.

Our work and commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) is underpinned by the legal framework of the Equality Act, and the Public Sector Equality Duty therein.

Equality Data

The University collects and regularly updates its staff and student equality data and publishes a summary of this data within a comprehensive Annual EDI Report. The reports also highlight key achievements in relation to EDI and provide an overview of the work undertaken to create an equal, diverse and inclusive University. The reports shown on this page also enable the University to meet their statutory requirement with regards to publishing data related to 'protected characteristics'.

Collecting equality data during the colleague recruitment process

During the colleague recruitment process, applicants are asked to provide some personal details linked to the Equality Act 2010 protected characteristics. We know equality monitoring questions linked to these personal details can sometimes seem intrusive but having good quality data enables us to understand our workforce to ensure we can provide an inclusive workplace for everyone.
