Career Path: Growth Marketing Executive, Sedex
Location: London, UK

Former: Senior Marketing Executive at FlightGlobal.

I have always been passionate about Marketing. I did my undergraduate in Grenoble Ecole of Management in International Business with an specialisation in Marketing and Advertising in third year, and graduated in 2016. During this time I completed two internships during the summer periods as a Marketing Assistant and Marketing Coordinator. I wanted to carry on with my studies and specialised further in the field. I found the perfect programme at Northumbria that also allowed me to do a placement in the second year. This was a great opportunity to learn more and gain more experience. I carried out my placement at a marketing agency as an Account Executive. I graduated from my Masters in 2018 and started working as a Sales and Marketing Executive in Real state, then moved into a Saas company working as a Marketing executive where I worked for a year.

What was it about Northumbria that made you decide to study here?

I like the variety of the programme, the convenient location in the London Campus and the opportunity to do a placement in the second year.

What was it like studying at Northumbria?

It was a mix of international students which taught me a lot about multicultural environments. A good mix of classes and group challenges. We had a weekend away which also was a great experience to see the Newcastle campus and the rest of the faculty.

How connected was your course with industry?

It was in the right direction although more emphasis in the digital side particularly for the marketing path would have been very insightful.

If you took on a placement during your course how did you feel this helped you in your career/ with your studies?

It was definitely the highlight of my programme. I learnt a lot, gained significant experience and made great friends in my placement. The University supported me throughout this process and I felt it was an excellent match for my career path.

What was the best thing about your course?

The placement, some classmates and the weekend away.

How did studying at Northumbria help you achieve your career goals/ give your career an edge?

It helped me straighten my profile in terms of both academic achievement and working experience.

Which skills/knowledge did you learn on your course that you use most now throughout your career?

Emotional awareness, group work and marketing principles.

What did you enjoy most about your time at Northumbria University?

My placement year.

What advice would you give somebody who is considering studying at Northumbria?

To take the placement rather than the business project as you will gain real experience and learn on the job. Get as much working experience as possible if you are a recent graduate.

How would you describe your time at Northumbria in three words?

Multicultural, insightful and enjoyable.
