Career Path: SEO Executive, Equity Digital Solutions
Location: Birtley, UK

After graduating from Northumbria University I started my career as a Marketing Assistant for a UAV manufacturer before moving on to working as a Marketing Coordinator for the biggest Fish & Chip shop supplier in the North of England. These two roles helped me to gain a rounded knowledge of marketing as well as experience in many difference areas of traditional and digital marketing. After four years working in a Generalist role I then went on to specialise in content and SEO and this is the area that I currently work in.

I currently work for an SEO agency as an SEO Executive.

What was it about Northumbria that made you decide to study here?

The Business School's reputation and the location of the University.

What was it like studying at Northumbria? 

Great! I had a very supportive tutor throughout and the mixture of seminars, lectures and live projects made the course very interesting and enjoyable.

What was the best thing about your course?

I found the course to be very insightful and interesting.

How did studying at Northumbria help you achieve your career goals/ give your career an edge?

Northumbria's Business School has an excellent reputation and as a result this put me in a good position when competing against graduates from other universities. The live project in my final year also gave me good experience of real world marketing which further helped with starting my career.

Which skills/knowledge did you learn on your course that you use most now throughout your career?

Marketing strategy & understanding consumer behaviour.

What did you enjoy most about your time at Northumbria University?

The variety of topics studied on the course and the opportunity to work on a live project.

What advice would you give somebody who is considering studying at Northumbria?

Go for it! You won't regret it and it will help you get to where you want to be.

How would you describe your time at Northumbria in three words?

Fun. insightful and exciting.
