Recent graduate inspires students to volunteer

Recent graduate, Caitlin Hudson, is hoping to inspire current Northumbria students to get involved in the University's vast array of volunteer opportunities by setting up the annual Caitlin Hudson Prize.

Graduating in July 2015 with a BA (Hons) in Business & International Management, Caitlin recently set up the annual prize in her name to provide a life changing volunteer opportunity with Team Kenya for a chosen Northumbria student. The Caitlin Hudson Prize will enable the prize winner to take part in a trip overseas to carry out volunteer charity work for Team Kenya and allow for them to further develop skills in sustainability, community building, sports coaching and vocational training.

From the early age of fourteen Caitlin has been an active volunteer, speaking of her donation she says: “Northumbria's Newcastle Business School provided me with the resources and opportunities to make a positive difference within my local community, international communities and large corporate organisations. From funding my trips to the United Nations to implementing my experiences as case studies, I was supported in significant ways. It is extremely important for me to give back to the University to allow other students to have the same incredible experiences I have had. Supporting current students is rewarding and I would encourage everyone to do the same”.

Upon graduation Caitlin has taken up an exciting international role in London with GSK as a Global Category Manager. She retains her connection with Northumbria and is a regular visitor to Newcastle as she embarks on further study with Northumbria to complete her PhD. This annual prize will further develop her ongoing contact with current students and lifelong link with Northumbria.

The Caitlin Hudson Prize will be awarded in 2017; to find out how you can give back to Northumbria click here.
