Spend a month abroad!

Northumbria University are offering you the opportunity to take part in a partially funded international programme!

We have 21 different programmes across 17 different countries where you can volunteer or complete an internship abroad. If you’re still planning the next steps of your career, these programmes are a great way to gain valuable international experience to boost your CV whilst receiving financial support from the university. The programmes are run by external providers but partially funded by Northumbria University.

All students within 12 months of completing a course are eligible for a base level of funding, whereas those who meet any of the university’s widening participation criteria are eligible for additional grants to support their participation in an International Short Programme.

Our partners host a range of exciting opportunities for you to experience new cultures, with opportunities in St Lucia, Spain, Fiji and Indonesia open for applications. Applications are open until February 19th, so don’t miss your chance to enhance your skills while living abroad.

  • An Accounting graduate who participated in summer 2024:

“The International Short Programme is a truly great way to not only visit, but experience a new country, to meet new people, embrace the culture, and to educate yourself on the history of a country. If you are wanting to partake in ‘productive travel’, this, in my opinion, is the perfect opportunity to do so.”
