Developing the future generations

Northumbria has a solid history in developing future generations and sustainable practice across the world.

We provide a range of programmes to help prepare the future generation of healthcare professionals, whether this be pre-registration programmes for those in the early stages of their career, CPD for those wishing to expand their knowledge and skills and potentially specialise, through to Leadership and Education for those wishing to be the leaders or the nurse educators of the future.

As a Nurse or Healthcare professional progresses through their career, Northumbria is able to provide knowledge and skills to support their continued development. We offer leadership and management programmes including

We have worked with MAHSA University in Malaysia for more than ten years in Nursing and have seen MAHSA develop from a College to University College and latterly a University delivering and awarding degrees in its own right. We have also worked to transform nurse education in Egypt as part of an EU-funded programme. Northumbria assisted in developing a new curriculum, delivered training to key nursing staff in hospitals across Egypt as well as staff development programmes for around 1,000 senior nurse teachers.

Students commencing their studies with Northumbria often remain for a period of time, developing their career during this period. Critical Care nurse Nicola McCann was named the Post-Registration Student of the Year in the 2014 Student Nursing Times awards. As well as working in the regional neuro-trauma unit at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, she lectures part-time and is about to begin a masters course to reach her goal of becoming a senior lecturer.
