Research Culture

The research culture within the People, Work, and Organisation Research Group is vibrant, inclusive, and deeply focused on advancing critical perspectives in management and organizational studies. Our work centers on key themes such as Critical Management Studies, where we challenge traditional management practices and explore the ethical, social, and power dynamics at play within organizations. We also delve into Human Resource Governance and Organisation Studies, critically analyzing how HR practices, leadership, and organizational structures impact individuals and shape workplace cultures.

A strong commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusivity (EDI) runs through our research, as we explore how these elements influence organizational effectiveness, employee well-being, and social justice. We are dedicated to advancing understanding and promoting policies that create fair and equitable work environments.

In addition, we focus on Meaningful Work & Careers Mobility, exploring how employees' experiences of purpose and career progression shape their engagement, satisfaction, and success. Our group fosters a collaborative environment with  Business and Law conferences, SMEs and large firms in the North East or internationally where, innovative ideas flourish, and research is driven by a passion to understand and improve the future of work, creating positive change both within and beyond organizational boundaries.
