GUEST SEMINAR: Rural Landscapes of
Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Türkiye

Türkiye’s rural areas have been undergoing significant transformation,
shaped by entrepreneurship and innovation that drive sustainable development.
Historically reliant on agriculture, rural economies are now diversifying
through agro-industries, rural tourism, and online entrepreneurship. Government
initiatives, such as regional development agencies and rural support programs,
have facilitated this shift by providing financial incentives, infrastructure
improvements, and policy frameworks that encourage local enterprise. Innovation
in rural Türkiye is fueled by smart agriculture, renewable energy investments,
and digital connectivity, allowing small-scale producers to integrate into
larger value chains. Rural entrepreneurship is also driven by cooperatives,
women-led businesses, and social enterprises that promote inclusive growth.
Moreover, urban-to-rural migration trends, especially among young
entrepreneurs, have sparked new business models that blend traditional
practices with modern technologies.However, challenges remain, including access
to finance, infrastructural gaps, and regional disparities in sustainable
development. This presentation will draw rural landscapes of entrepreneurship
and innovation in Türkiye on how to address these challenges.
