Societies

With hundreds of students studying Geography-related courses at Northumbria each year, the student community is diverse, vibrant and involved in just about everything. There are over 100 societies at Northumbria’s Students’ Union, allowing you to make loads of new friends, go abroad, learn new skills or perhaps do things you’ve never done before.

Here are just a few that may be of interest to you… But if you can’t see a society that suits you, when you arrive you and your friends can set up your own. It’s as easy as that!

We offer the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme here at your Students’ Union. This is a nationally recognised award which recognises outstanding achievements by young people in a number of areas including a Physical, Skill, Volunteering and an Expedition.

The Human Rights Society aims to raise awareness of human rights abuses and issues through weekly members’ meetings, public events and fundraising activities. We meet every Monday at 6pm in Training Room 1 at the Student Union.
