Preparation for the Role of Professional Midwifery/ Nursing Advocate - AC7092
March 2021 and April 2021 10 Days over 10 months (approx.)

This module supports learning located primarily in the work-place to enable registered midwives and practising nurses to become Professional Advocates (Professional Midwifery/ Nursing Advocates PMA or PNA ) (NHS England, 2017 and 2020 ) and provide the Advocating and Education for Quality Improvement model of clinical supervision in UK health care services.

This module enables key groups identified as being likely to benefit from AEQUIP to develop the Restorative Clinical Supervision and quality improvement skills to implement the AEQUIP model in clinical practice. To reflect the variety of experiences and skills that you may already have, the module enables you to develop your own learning agreement in partnership with your PMA/ PNA workplace mentor and the university team.  A range of learning opportunities will be made available over a 12 week period in the academic online  and workplace settings in line with the learning needs you have identified. Your PMA/PNA mentor will support you and assist you in accessing learning opportunities in the workplace.

You will have the ongoing support of peers and the University module team through an online discussion forum so that you can explore linking theory to practice and engage in debate around the emerging models of AEQUIP. Online seminar learning, peer feedback and critical debate is facilitated through the provision of tutor- led contact  approximately weekly over the course of the module.  These opportunities are arranged by the module team and contribute to enabling you to participate fully in in the intellectual life of Northumbria University. You will be supported throughout by your Northumbria University module team , with telephone and virtual meetings arranged as needed, responses to questions posted onto the discussion board on eLP so that the whole group may benefit, and individual formative feedback on the developing e-portfolio.

For application or if you have any questions or queries about this module please contact us via email at NSBackOffice@northumbria.ac.uk.
