After many months of visiting universities up and down the UK, I attended my first Northumbria open day. After spending time in the city and learning about the facilities on offer and the career opportunities the university is linked with, it became apparent that Northumbria University and city of Newcastle was where I wanted to spend my university years.
Throughout my years at university, I’ve managed to meet lots of different people from various backgrounds, and I have been lucky enough to make friends for life. My course has taught me a number key skills that will be transferable in the workplace and has given me the chance to showcase my abilities. I was lucky enough to secure a work placement in my third year and I’m certain this was down to my newly developed skills that I had learnt over the course of my first two years at Northumbria.
I’m a big football fan so I’m usually playing or watching it! Aside from football, I keep pretty busy socialising with family and friends, and exploring what Newcastle has to offer!
There really is too many to list… but I love going to St. James’ Park the home of Newcastle United – since their return to the premier league this season, you’ve got the opportunity to watch some of the best footballers in the world! I absolutely love heading out to the coast to Tynemouth along its wonderful beaches, it really is a sight to behold – I like to head along the promenade and play some awesome crazy golf!
Firstly, make sure to attend any of the upcoming open days, as it gives you the best indication on the city and especially the course you want to apply for! Secondly, if you are successful in your application be sure to do your research and plan for university well in advance, so you aren’t rushing to buy those essentials in the lead up to fresher’s week.
