Each month, we will be compiling a selection of events for you here, so that you can keep track of things happening both on and off campus. From events in student accommodation and society socials to Northumbria University Sport fixtures and pop-up events on campus, we've got you covered!

NOVEMBER 2024 - Whats On

 

Clothing Swap Shop

Date/Time: 20th November 11am-2pm

Location: Newcastle Students Union

pdate your wardrobe without spending a penny!

The Cost of Living Swap Shop is a free exchange event for all students and staff to bring clothes and accessories that you no longer wear and exchange them for new to you.

If you bring in clothes to donate, then you can exchange for as many as you like. If you don't bring any, then you are limited to 3 items.

Converge Arts and Crafts Drop In

Date/Time: 27th November 10:30am

Location: Newcastle Students Union

Converge at Northumbria is a creative organisation that sits within Northumbria University.  They offer free educational campus based opportunities to those 18+ in the community, who have experienced challenges associated with their mental health. 

They are hosting a range of arts and crafts sessions for you to attend and get creative. 

The arts and crafts supplies are provided for you along with guidance on how to create as well as freedom to express yourself. This is an inclusive space for you to come relax and take a break from your hectic day/ week.

L.A.D's (Ladies and Decks)

Date/Time: 6th November 6pm - 9:30pm

Location: Cobalt Studios

LADS (Ladies Open Decks and Social) is back for Autumn 2024! Come and meet other likeminded women who love music and are already DJ-ing or would like to learn for chatting, mixing, sharing notes and generally addressing the lack of women (or those identifying as women) on the decks in this city and beyond.

Bring Vinyl or USB stick if you have it (both decks available) and if you don’t just bring yourselves, your ideas and your musical enthusiasm! Fully stocked bar, snacks, hot drinks available!

Showbiz

Date/Time: 22nd November 8pm

Location: Star and Shadow

A new variety entertainment and performance art night inspired by the 1980s Alternative comedy scene, Victorian Music Hall, and Pheonix Nights. Hosted by performance artist Liberty Hodes.

Newcastle Christmas Market

Date/Time: 16th November - 22nd December

Location: Greys Monument and Grainger Market

At Monument and Grey Street, the bustling market stalls are back, offering a brilliant range of unique gifts and seasonal treats. Look out for the iconic North Pole igloo pods perched above the market, where you can cosy up with food and drinks while taking in the stunning views of Grey Street. And don’t miss the return of the ever-popular Moosenwirt alpine bar, nestled in the heart of Grey Street, adding a warming touch to Newcastle’s food and drink scene.

London Jazz Festival 

Date/Time: 15th - 24th November 

Location: London

Every November, the EFG London Jazz Festival takes over the city, with a diverse line-up showcasing global stars and emerging talent.

As the biggest pan-city music festival in Europe, it brings over 100k audience members together at 300+ live shows at venues across the city, from basement jazz bars to the world’s finest concert halls. The festival is the highlight of the jazz calendar in the UK, with a long history of programming a wide variety of talent from around the world.

NOVEMBER 2024 - Fireworks Displays 

Tynemouth Cricket Club Firework Display

Date/Time: 2nd November 5pm

Location: Tynemouth Cricket Club

Get ready for an explosive night as the popular fireworks display returns to Tynemouth Cricket Club on Saturday 2nd November! Should be fun for all the family with fairground rides, food stalls and of course the bar will be open!

Newcastle Racecourse Firework and Funfair

Location: Newcastle Racecourse

Join us on November 1st for an unforgettable experience of fireworks and fun at our highly anticipated event with a spooky twist!

Newcastle Round Table Fireworks Extravanagza

Date/Time: 2nd November 5pm

Location: Gosforth Sports Association

This spectacular event has grown to become the largest fireworks display in the area and is NEWCASTLE ROUND TABLE'S biggest fundraiser of the year. All the profits made go to charities and good causes in the local area!!

Corams Fields Bloomsbury Firework Display (London)

Date/Time: 5th November 3:30-7pm

Location: Coram Fields, Bloomsbury, London

Coram’s Fields Fireworks display is back and this year is hosted on Fireworks Night itself, Tuesday 5th November. With performances from local children and young people, fun fair rides, delicious food options and an 18-minute fireworks extravaganza, be sure not to miss it!

OCTOBER 2024 - Halloween Special

Hocus Pocus Screening

Dates: 15th - 31st August

Location: Vue Cinema Gateshead

hree hundred years after they were sentenced to die in Salem, a trio of witches return to gain their revenge. Terrorising the town's trick-or-treaters on Halloween, riding on vacuum cleaners instead of broomsticks, the only thing that can stop them is a black cat - in fact a boy who was turned into feline form on the day of the witches' original execution.

Spooky Halloween Walk

Halloween Tours

Date: 31st October

Location: Newcastle Castle

Do you dare to join us for an evening tour of the Castle Keep, one of Newcastle's scariest buildings! Explore the dark halls and passages inhabited in the days of old. Your guide will reveal the secrets of this amazing building and scary tales from its past before a refreshment break in the Great Hall.

From there, your guide will take you to the roof of the Keep to enjoy the spectacular views over Newcastle.

Halloween Cinema

A marathon of horror films - from your classics like nightmare on elm street to the rather traumatising hereditary. We've got a lovely selection of cinema food, running through the show-ins with deals on drinks you can't get anywhere else.

LONDON EVENTS

Twisted Circus Halloween Boat Party

Dates: Sat 26th Oct & 2nd Nov

Location: London City

This annual event always promises tonnes of spooky fun, and this year is no different. The Twisted Circus Halloween Boat Party is taking place on Halloween weekend an the mysterious Dutch Master, cruising down the Thames all afternoon. This two-floor boat offers a fully stocked bar and an open deck roof terrace to see the sights from, with all the best RnB, house, bashment, soca and creepy tunes playing throughout.

HALLOW-QUEEN Drag Bingo

Dates: 31st October

Location: Elephant & Castle

Things are getting a little fierce and freaky over at Mercato Metropolitano Elephant and Castle, with its Hallow-Queen Drag Bingo on Thursday the 31st of October. Expect a night of thrills and chills as you play bingo and enjoy lipsync battles, all hosted by the wonderful Paige Three, alongside Nicole Pellegrino and Patsy.

Black History Month Events 

COBO Comedy Shutdown

Comedy Shutdown proudly presents our Black History Month Special, hitting venues across the UK this October! Gather your friends and family for an unforgettable evening of uproarious laughter and celebration. Acts include: Richard Blackwood (MTV, ITV, BBC, CH4, Diesel (Comedy Store, COBO Highlight), Gbemi Oladipo (BBC New Comedian of the Year Nominee) and Kazeem Jamal (The Blackout, SE London Powerhouse).

London Literature Festival

Date/Time: 23rd October 

Location: Southbank Centre, London. 

London Literature Festival begins with a line-up of debut writers, including Kaliane Bradley, Hannah Regel, Tom Lamont and Varaidzo, chaired by Barry Pierce.
