Peter Rolton, Executive Chairman, Britishvolt: Accelerating to a zero-carbon future. The Britishvolt Effect.

Northumbria University

-

Register Britishvolt has made a significant commitment to the region with the creation of its first full-scale Gigaplant, located in Northumberland, UK.

With start of Phase One production scheduled for 2024, and completion targeted towards the end of the decade, the Gigaplant will produce enough battery cells for over 300,000 electric vehicles each year. It will also create thousands of high-skilled jobs, economic opportunity and anchor the region at the forefront of sustainable energy and innovative technologies.

Peter Rolton will discuss Britishvolt’s decision to move to the Northeast, including the positive impact on the region and future plans for the rapidly growing company. He will highlight the opportunities that exist for businesses, higher education, and society as a whole and how collaborative working can enhance innovation, provide access to world-leading research and meet the growing demand for a sustainable future. With low carbon batteries at the very core of the next industrial revolution.

Northumbria University alumnus, Peter Rolton is Executive Chairman of Britishvolt. With over 30-years’ experience Peter is an acknowledged specialist in the renewable energy sector. He is clear about the issues we face, and the cohesive strategy needed to overcome them. He served four years as a technical Government advisor at the Ministerial level on the UK’s Renewables Advisory Board and has worked as a strategic partner with some of the world’s largest and most successful blue-chip multi-national companies as they develop strategies for renewable energy.
