This programme has been designed for those students wishing to develop an interest in the very topical areas of computer and data network technology. This is a three-year full-time programme with the option of taking an embedded year of practical experience in the IT sector. The programme provides focused education in the practice and theory of computers and computer data networks. Specialisation in either computers or networks occurs in the final year through optional programme modules. A variety of material is studied including basic electronics, programming, internet issues and network theory. Students on the course enjoy state-of-the-art workshops and 24-hour access to laboratories equipped with the latest industry standard technology.

COURSEWORK AND ASSESSMENT
The subjects deal with specific study areas, which are assessed in a variety of ways including coursework, presentations, project reports and examinations.
ACCREDITATION
Professional accreditation is currently being sought from the Institute of Incorporated Engineers for ‘incorporated engineer status’ for those students completing the course.
CAREERS
This programme will prepare and qualify students to take up rewarding careers in a variety of electronic and IT-based industries or as IT professionals in the service sector.
