The computer games industry is thriving within the UK and the expansion of the home entertainment market is expected to continue for the foreseeable future. This course has been developed in close consultation with industry and will provide challenging enjoyable study programme. The degree combines computer programming and mathematical disciplines with aspects of games design.
The programme foundation is built upon
developing competency in programming,
systems architecture, multimedia technologies, human computer interaction, graphics, animation, sound and video complemented by a strong appreciation of the software design and management processes and principles. On completing the programme students will be expected to demonstrate creativity in problem-solving and decision-making in complex situations and also creativity and imagination in design situations. They should be able to effectively and professionally
communicate information, ideas, arguments, problems and solutions in both written and oral form to specialist and non-specialist audiences, initiative, personal responsibility, personal enterprise self-reliance and self-direction
will be demonstrated as will acting
autonomously in planning and implementing tasks at a professional level. Our students are
currently enjoying facilities provided in a £7 million major refurbishment programme with the School and continue to benefit from our established links with external organisations and the opportunity to undertake a
supervised work placement.
