There are currently around 140 students from Nigeria enrolled on programmes as diverse as Biotechnology, Business Information Systems Management, Business and Management, Computing and Information Technology, International Development, International Trade Law, Mass Communication Management, Project Management, Public Health and many more.

Although some courses have specific requirements for entry, Northumbria will consider any qualification for entry to its courses.

A recognised Nigerian Foundation Programme  Average B grades
Advanced Undergraduates Higher National Diploma from a Nigerian institution - for entry to year 2 / 3 2.5/4.0 GPA or Lower credit 
Postgraduate Programmes  Bachelor degree from a government recognised University Lower second class or CGPA 2.4/5.0 
Postgraduate Diploma   Lower second class or CGPA 2.4/5.0 
Graduate Certificate Bachelor degree from a government recognised University Third class or 1.50
Post Higher HND 40%

Please note these are general entry guidelines. Actual requirements may vary depending on your chosen course of study and certain courses may have specific or additional entry requirements, full details can be found on our course directory. Decisions for entry will also be based on personal statements, previous study information and not just your final course grading.

For most degree level and above courses we accept the following qualifications as evidence of English Language.

 

WAEC – We typically require C6 for most courses*

 

NECO (accepted for September 2022 Intake onwards) – we typically require B3 for most courses*

 

Please upload your WAEC/NECO certificate as part of your application where possible, along with a copy of your scratch card where applicable.

 

*Please note that these tests may not be acceptable for certain Professional or Pre Registration Health Courses. Other courses may have different grading requirements.
